Licences

Civil Train is pleased to offer the following licences;

Plant Operator Licences

There are potential risks associated with operating certain plant and equipment. To ensure your operators have the appropriate skills and knowledge, it is a requirement under the Act to undertake specific training in order to obtain the appropriate licence.

Employers are responsible for providing training and supervision to each worker. The regulations state that a trainee must first receive formal training, which means training involving theory and practical which addresses all the elements and performance criteria for the particular plant item.

An assessment will be undertaken by a Civil Train Assessor who is authorised by WH&SQ for the particular prescribed plant and equipment. This will contain a written and practical assessment. The theory assessment must be completed first. If the theory assessment is done at the completion of formal training, then the practical assessment must be completed within 6 months. If not, then the theory assessment will have to be done at the time of the practical assessment.

Training options:

  • Option 1 – Formal training by Civil Train including theory assessment and the practical assessment within 6 months of the formal training date.
  • Option 2 – Formal training by Civil Train, theory and practical assessment done at the same time at a later date.
  • Option 3 – Formal training by company with an “Approved Trainer”, theory and practical assessment by Civil Train at a later date.

Civil Train does not own or operate machinery and does not have plant available for training. All options require practical inspection & demonstration and it is assumed the relevant machines will be made available by companies for this purpose. In exceptional circumstances Civil Train may be able to hire plant for training but the full cost of hire will be the company’s responsibility.
